xojessii answered Sunday July 8 2007, 11:18 pm: usually if you get sick alot like strep throat and mono like a couple times a year then they will want to take them out.
soendearing answered Sunday July 8 2007, 11:05 pm: There really isn't symptoms of needing to have them removed. When you get a severe case of Mono or Tonsillitis, your doctor would let you know if they needed to be removed.
Have your mom look at your tonsils with a flashlight. If you have spots on them, you may have Tonsillitis or Mono, but that by no means, means that you need to have them removed. Check with a doctor soon if you have white spots, or your throat doesn't feel better in 2-4 days. I've had both and I still have my tonsils. You should definitely go to the doctor asap to see. You may even have strep. To get your tonsils removed, there are certain signs & symptoms. Some are similar to regular sore throats though.
