Branch banner The Adirondack Branch of AAUW was established in 1920. We have about 60 members with diverse educational and employment backgrounds who work together to fulfill the mission of AAUW. The local branch is one of about 25 branches which make up the New York State Division of AAUW.

AAUW (American Association of University Women), a national organization, was founded in 1881 to promote equity for women, education and self-development over the life span, and positive societal change. Membership in a local branch bestows guest member status in all other AAUW branches.
National AAUW membership supports important work for issues that matter to women, including the gender pay gap and workplace discrimination. Member benefits include discounts and special services on insurance, hotels and travel, office supplies, email services and more.
The national AAUW has a separate Action Fund, which advances equity for women and girls through member activism and voter mobilization. Under it is an active Lobby Corps in Washington, D.C. which visits selected congressional offices weekly to educate policy makers about issues of concern to AAUW members.

Adirondack Branch activities include monthly program meetings and several study and interest groups.
Current branch events are listed here.

Recent issues of our branch newsletter, Adirondack Glimpses, are on this site. The quarterly newsletter of the New York State AAUW, NYS Focus, is also available online.
