Walking in Turkey
Cappadocia and the Lycian coast

12 days

ask us for details

This trip is a great introduction to walking in Turkey with the miracle rock formations of Cappadocia and the turquoise coast of Lycia.

Our walking starts in Cappadocia, a fairytale landscape of volcanic rock sculpted by time and the elements into a geological dance of rock spires and needles, between which apple, apricot, and mulberry trees flourish in fertile valleys.

Perched at 1300 meters, the ancient village of Uçhisar dominates this breathtaking scenery and will be our hotel base for five nights.

Lycia is situated in the most beautiful coastal area of the Turkish Mediterranean, laying between Marmaris and Antalya.

The Lycian Way, the first waymarked long-distance footpath in Turkey, follows part of the coast. This fabled coast of clear water is rich with archeological sites. Fragrant pine forests tumble down mountain slopes to end abruptly in red cliffs, secret coves and sandy beaches.

We will stay in the small town of Kas, a quiet pleasant town with its blue sea and narrow streets scented with jasmine flowers. It’s one of the leading spots for diving in Turkey

We stay in only two places (Uchisar and Kas) from where you can discover the most interesting spots of Cappadocia and Lycia.

You only carry light day-packs for our walks in Turkey.

In Cappadocia, from our hotel in Uchisar during five nights we'll walk through the White Valley, the Pigeon Valley, the Red Valley and Ilhara Valley. We'll visit numerous typical villages as Goreme or Derinkuyu Underground city.

Seven days on the Lycian Cost, based in Kas. The seashore, village and mountain paths of the Lycian Way, stretching from Fethiye to Antalya, once linked the ancient cities of the Lycia people. This trail holds the secrets and mysteries of 3000 years of Lycian civilization. As we walk along the trail, we’ll see startling panoramic views, original cave dwellings, city remains (Lycian, Roman, and Byzantine) and fascinating rock-cut tombs.

The crystal clear, turquoise waters are perfect for swimming, scuba-diving, snorkelling and sea-kayaking.

The great walking and scenery is enhanced by our comfortable accomodation
and the wide range of traditional food that we will sample.

Hotels are 2*

On average we walk for 4/5 hours each day and ascend and descend 500 m (1.600 ft)
