Bike Central LA

Serving Downtown, Westlake, Koreatown, Rampart Village, Historic Filipinotown, Elysian Park, Echo Park, Silver Lake, Los Feliz, East Hollywood and Beachwood Canyon.

Our Story

The idea for Bike Central LA was conceived when a founding member’s car broke down, and he had to get around Los Angeles by other means. He quickly realized that navigating the city by bike made him feel healthier, happier, and more connected with his neighborhood and that the area needed better cycling infrastructure. With the organizational help of BikeLA, Bike Central LA came together for the first steering committee meeting in Silverlake in September 2022.

Our Mission

Bike Central LA, a local chapter of BikeLA, is a group of community members dedicated to making Los Angeles’ central neighborhoods safe for cyclists through infrastructure, education and group rides. The organization includes a leadership team of residents of Echo Park, Silver Lake and Westlake, and dozens of community members who are interested in being involved as volunteers and active members. Bike Central LA is confident that making Los Angeles a safer place to bike would in turn reduce transportation-related pollution, end car-related fatalities of all vulnerable road users, increase the freedom of mobility for all users, and engender a more integrated, interactive, and human-scale community. In solidarity, we work to create a better now and a cleaner future.
