2006 Diercks family Christmas Letter

Hello everyone! Happy New Year to you!

For some of you this is an update of the past year, for others it's catching up on several years' information because we haven't sent out Christmas cards in a very long time.

Where to begin? We still enjoy living in the San Francisco Bay area. After growing up in the Midwest, this is a wonderful climate. Plenty of sun, but usually not too hot, plenty of rain in winter, but no snow and rarely below 40 degrees. We have lots of evergreen trees that stay green all year, and plenty of other trees that change colors and lose their leaves in the fall. Beauty without cold, it's the best!

Jon works as IT director at a local accounting firm. His commute is a 20 minute bike ride that includes dropping off Davis at school. Jon also leads a men's group at Marin Covenant Church, plays keyboards and other instruments in the worship team, and does some consulting.

Keli is staying at home full time now. She loves being around for the kids, and now that they are both in school, she can attend many class parties and field trips, etc. This Christmas, Keli directed her first hand bell choir at church. It was very fun, and she looks forward to continuing with them for the coming year(s). Keli has been quite active in the choir at Marin Covenant, and enjoys a weekly morning women's Bible study as well. Keli participates in Women in Christ, a group that gets together once a month with a retreat once a year to tell stories of how God has been working and blessing women's lives. It's a very encouraging group.

Davis is now 9 years old and is in the 3rd grade. He likes school and is doing very well. He likes his teacher, Mrs. Jones, even though she runs a strict classroom. Davis' favorite subject is recess, but he also likes reading a lot. Davis is a very good singer and musician, and he sings in the Marin Covenant children's choir. Davis really likes AWANA, a Bible study club for kids. He also enjoys playing chess and is great at riding his bike. He loves riding to school with Dad almost every morning. Davis would like to be a scientist when he grows up, and he would make a good one.

Caris will be 4 in February, and attends preschool 3 mornings a week. She loves preschool, and especially likes practicing her letters. She can write most of her own name. Caris also likes to ride her bike, although when going to school, she rides in a seat on the back of Mommy's bike. This way Caris gets some fresh air and scenery, and Mommy doesn't have to go to the gym. Caris is also a good singer, and enjoys reading books, but really loves drawing and painting, and ponies.

Our biggest excitement of the year was our trip to visit family and friends in the Midwest last summer. We spent time with Jon's family in Aurora, IL, Keli's parents in Toledo, OH, and saw lots of old friends at Anderson, IN for the Church of God Convention.

We'd love to hear how all of our friends are doing. If you know us well enough to read our letter this far, please let us know how you're doing, too!

Love In Christ,
The Diercks family: Jon, Keli, Davis & Caris.
