The guide for updating Grand Prix 4 to the 2010 Formula One season [17th March 2010]

Welcome to the guide for updating Grand Prix 4 to the 2010 Formula One season. You will find all the latest updates and W.I.Ps here. This page will be updated with all the files you will need to get your game into the new season. There is a full guide which will explain everything you need to do to make sure you get the most out of your game. Enjoy





Start with a fresh GP4 installation [or another installation of GP4 in a different directory] and install the official GP4 patch. Then get the 9.6 decrypted GP4.exe and put into the main GP4 folder (usually C:/Program Files/Infogrames/Grand Prix 4). I rename the original GP4.exe to GP4_bk.exe incase you need it again. Then download the new GPxPatch version 3.93 and install. Finally, always backup whatever files you are replacing or editing - it's better to be safe than sorry!

For your game to be in the 2010 grid order, change the "car_xxx_carx_lod_x.gp4" file only, not the .tex files. Your .gp4 files should renamed as below:

McLaren 2010 carshape files become "car_ferrari_carx_lod_x.gp4"
Mercedes 2010 carshape files become "car_mclaren_carx_lod_x.gp4
Red Bull 2010 carshape files become "car_williams_carx_lod_x.gp4
Ferrari 2010 carshape files become "car_benetton_carx_lod_x.gp4
Williams 2010 carshape files become "car_bar_carx_lod_x.gp4
Renault 2010 carshape files become "car_jordan_carx_lod_x.gp4
Force India 2010 carshape files become "car_arrows_carx_lod_x.gp4
Toro Rosso 2010 carshape files become "car_sauber_carx_lod_x.gp4
Lotus/HRT/Virgin/Sauber* 2010 carshape files become "car_jaguar_carx_lod_x.gp4
Lotus/HRT/Virgin/Sauber* 2010 carshape files become "car_minardi_carx_lod_x.gp4
Lotus/HRT/Virgin/Sauber* 2010 carshape files become "car_prost_carx_lod_x.gp4

* There are four new teams in F1 this year and Grand Prix 4 can only hold another three teams after Toro Rosso so you will need to chose which team you don't want in the game.

carx and lod_x.gp4 would be renamed to the corresponding numbers, eg. carx would be car1 or car2 and lod_x.gp4 would be lod_1.gp4, lod_2.gp4, lod_3.gp4 and lod_4.gp4

This will give you the correct 2010 team order.

For helmets, download the desired helmet set. Then look at the helmet textures files, they should be named "driver1_1.tex" to driver "driver23_1.tex". You will notice there will also be a "driver1_2.tex", this is because the helmets are made in two .tex files. Next you must make sure the helmets are in the correct order [2010 in this case]. Rename the .tex files so they match the driver, eg. Jenson Button is number one, so his helmet textures will be "driver1_1.tex" and "driver1_2.tex". Nico Hulkenberg's helmet textures should be "driver10_1.tex" and "driver10_2.tex".

The other thing you need to remember is to put a copy of:

driver9_1.tex
driver9_2.tex
driver10_1.tex
driver10_2.tex
driver21_1.tex
driver21_2.tex

into your "Infogrames/Grand Prix 4/Cars" folder.

For teamart and gridcars, open GPi Browser and replace the original 2001 pictures with your 2010 ones. Here are the correct numbers to help:
