My first post in this new forum is dedicated to highlighting a forthcoming documentary on the channels Crime and Crime HD (which are available Sky the UK) coming this Saturday.

Follow this link to look at the listing: EPG program link (where you can use the handy remote record if you're a Sky Subscriber) or look out for repeats and localised viewing.

The documentary is called Edmund Kemper: The Co-Ed Killer. For those unaware, Mr Edmund Kemper's interview with famed FBI profiler Robert Ressler was the inspiration behind the incredibly engrossing and powerful interview scene between Millennium's Frank Black and convicted serial killer Richard Alan Hance in the season one episode The Thin White Line.

That scene between Lance Henriksen and the incredible Jeremy Roberts was absolutely captivating and downright unnerving.

Edmund Emil "Big Ed" Kemper III (born December 18, 1948), also known as "The Co-ed Killer", is an American serial killer who was active in California in the early 1970s. He started his criminal life by shooting both his grandparents when he was 15 years old. Kemper later killed and dismembered six female hitchhikers in the Santa Cruz area. He then murdered his mother and one of her friends before turning himself in to the authorities hours later.

A truly fascinating and utterly repellent human being. One can only hope they never live to understand what went off in his head. I watched a Japanese film some time ago that also used part of his story for inspiration though I cannot recall the name of it. The film documented a serial killer who used his victims skulls as flower pots in his garden. It was inspired by Kemper's murder of Aiko Koo as he dismembered her and buried her head in her grandmother's garden as a joke. Evidently his idea of what constitutes a joke speaks volumes.

I hope my SKY package includes this show as I am definitely going to give it a watch.

Edmund Kemper was using his victims as substitutes for his mother. I think I remember it right. He finally got the cojones to kill her, so to speak. He was a very tall dude. Douglas and Ressler were probably each 6 ft tall ro more, and Kemper made the look like little girls in height compared to him. Of course he started by killing his grandparents as a teenager.
