Datema Wins HME Maritime Innovation Award 2009

datema_webDatema Delfzijl‘s ENCTrack has been awarded the HME Maritime Innovation Award 2009. Datema received this prestigious award during the 4th Maritime Awards Gala in De Doelen in Rotterdam on the 28th of October 2009. Willem Amels (left) and Ronald de Boer from Datema were there to take the award home.

The ENCTrack service is a new and refreshing innovative approach to the distribution of ENCs onboard the merchant Fleet. ENCTrack was first introduced at Nor-Shipping 2009 and removes all barriers to licensing and allows access to all available ENC charts before actually paying for them. The service brings many safety benefits, as all charts are available at all times, removing the need for pre-ordering. The basis of payment of the ENCTrack service is a special tracking system which automatically compares the position of the ship to its chart holdings and automatically registers additional charts if the vessel sails out of its existing licence.

The jury of the HME Maritime Innovation Award 2009 motivated their decision to award Datema by saying: “The ENCTrack service of Datema Delfzijl is a bold and valuable innovation. It provides a serious reduction of administrative burden and creates an increased safety on board. On top the product offers a great cost savings for shipowners.”

Datema Delfzijl will be exhibiting at Europort 2009 in Ahoy Rotterdam. We will be organising an open Seminar on ENCTrack and the mandation of ECDIS at the Ahoy exhibition centre (Conference room DOCK 2) on Tuesday the 3rd of November at 10.30 am. Mr. Willem Amels will host the seminar.
