MELISSA OSBORNE

Melissa Osborne is an award-winning British screenwriter. Her first feature - the adaptation of the Spanish teen romance novel MY FAULT - is shooting in 2024 for Amaazon UK and she is currently writing the sequel. Melissa’s further commissions include a romantic drama feature that she is writing for Netflix and Temple Hill are producing, MISS HARGREAVES, an adaptation of the book as a family feature film for Ten Thousand & 86 and multiple original TV series; MARKED, with Firebird Pictures, SECRETS AND LIVES, with Playground and MRS R with Left Bank Pictures.

One of her feature scripts, EASY OUT, a young adult dramedy that tackles the weighty issue of assisted dying featured on the 2021 Brit List and is currently in development with Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company, Appian Way. Prior to this it received recognition as a Script Pipeline finalist and a Nicholl Fellowship semifinalist script. 

Mel also participated in the writers’ room for WINTER, a comedy series for Heyday Film and TV. Melissa’s first feature script, LOSING IT, landed her in the Tracking Board’s Top 100 Young & Hungry writers list and in 2020 she was selected to be part of the prestigious BBC Drama Writers room Programme. Whilst living in the US she attended UCLA where she made two short films, NOTHING and CHANGE. The latter, which she wrote, produced and directed, won many awards including the Frameline Audience Award at Toronto and the Best Drama Award at the Minghella Festival. CHANGE was acquired by Frameline’s ‘Youth in Motion’ program where it was made available to schools throughout California and plays on iTunes and Shorts TV.
