Welcome to my website! I am Father Patrick Cheng, an Episcopal priest, seminary professor, and lawyer in New York City.
I serve as an Associate Priest at The Church of the Transfiguration, a historic Anglo-Catholic parish in Midtown Manhattan also known as "The Little Church Around the Corner." I also teach at Union Theological Seminary in the City of New York as the Visiting Professor of Anglican Studies. Finally, I serve as the Co-Convener of the Bishop's Advisory Theology Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of New York as well as the Chair of its Subcommittee on the Theology of Faith Formation.
In addition to those roles, I am the Senior Vice President of Business Compliance at the Church Pension Group, the national pension and benefits organization of The Episcopal Church.
I am a graduate of Yale College (B.A.), Harvard Law School (J.D.), and Union Theological Seminary (M.A., M.Phil., Ph.D.). I've written a number of articles and book chapters as well as three books on queer theology -- Radical Love (2011), From Sin to Amazing Grace (2012), and Rainbow Theology (2013) -- which have been translated into Korean, Chinese, and/or Japanese. I also lecture about theology at various academic, church, and other settings.
