Republic of Ireland (4) v Estonia (0)

Aviva Stadium Kick-off 7.45pm

Richard Dunne could afford to smile. The Republic of Ireland's Euro 2012 play-off second leg against Estonia has become a gloriously stress-free occasion after their 4-0 win in Tallinn on Friday night, and thoughts have already turned towards the finals next summer. There is one Irishman, though, who might remain oblivious. Dunne's Aston Villa team‑mate Stephen Ireland has long since shut himself off in international exile. "He probably doesn't even know he's qualified," Dunne said.

There is no inclination to discuss the midfielder's future at this level and, given the indifference Ireland has displayed since the infamous saga of his supposedly dead grandmother(s), it is presumed that even he would not have the nerve to make himself available for the showpiece in Poland and Ukraine. There is a wider issue at stake. Ireland's history is littered with players who discover that they qualify for selection through a grandparent, for example, and it feels inevitable that somebody will advance himself from somewhere over the next six months. Croatia (3) v Turkey (0)

Stadion Maksimir, Zagreb Kick-off 7.05pm

The Croatia coach, Slaven Bilic, has warned his side against complacency, citing their elimination from Euro 2008 at the hands of the Turks as an example of how things can go wrong. That night, Croatia took the lead in the final minute of extra‑time in their quarter-final only for Turkey to equalise in added time and win the ensuing penalty shoot-out. "I don't think we will ever be able to get the 2008 defeat completely out of our system but we have already forgotten [Friday's] game in Istanbul," Bilic said. The second leg could turn out to be Guus Hiddink's final game in charge of Turkey. The Dutchman has been widely blamed for Friday's defeat.

Montenegro (0) v Czech Republic (2)

Stadion Podgorica Kick-off 7.15pm

The Czech Republic's injury-time second changed the complexion of what was an evenly balanced first leg. While the Czechs are now clear favourites to progress, Montenegro have not given up hope and are using their performance against England last month as inspiration ahead of the return leg. "We were losing 2-0 to England and we came back, and we had less time than we do now," Manchester City's Montenegro defender Stefan Savic said. "We have a whole game. I think we can do it. We need to give 200% as it's going to be very hard."

Portugal (0) v Bosnia & Herzegovina (0)

Estádio da Luz Kick-off 9pm

Cristiano Ronaldo blamed a poor pitch in Zenica for the goalless draw on Friday and is adamant that on a better surface in the Estádio da Luz Portugal will progress. "We have to assume we are favourites and show our superiority – we are a better team," the Real Madrid man said. Bosnia-Herzegovina know an away goal could swing the balance of the tie in their favour and their striker Edin Dzeko believes they can upset their hosts. The Manchester City player said: "The fact is that we are also looking forward to play on a quality pitch."

Preamble:
Right, you've got yourself some fact-filled previews down below. And soon you'll be getting word either of an almighty knees-up in Dublin or one of the biggest cock-ups and comebacks in the history of international sport: if Ireland, who have conceded just one goal in their last 10 matches and have not been beaten 5-0 at home since 1931 (by Spain, in case you're interested), contrive to squander their first-leg lead against a depleted Estonian side, then something sensational, sinister and/or supremely stupid will have occured. It won't happen. I hope. I foresee a festive 2-0 win, with lads such as Simon Cox and Seamus Coleman making early cases for inclusion in the Euro 2012 squad. I hope Trap decides to have a gander at Wes Hoolan in the build-up to the finals too.

Yes, I'm taking Irish qualification for granted. Croatia's too. They are the first to kick-off tonight (at 7:05pm London time) and they will do so with a 3-0 lead and against a Turkish team who were exposed as very limited in the first-leg. Guus Hiddink has already annoucned that he will step down after tonight, and all the signs are that he will go out with a whimper.

Montenegro sure won't. They trail the Czech Republic 2-0 but fancy their chances to turning that around. They kick-off at 7.15p,. Much later than taht comes the most intriguing tie: Portugal v Bosnia-Herzegovina. Will Portugal be punished for their perennial goal-scoring problems or will tonight be one of those nights when they actually convert some of the many chances that they create?

Friendly fire:
There are plenty of fascinating friendlies around Europe tonight too, including Belgium-France, Germany-Holland, Italy-Uruguay and Denmark-Finland. In an early kick-off, Serbia - who, as we know, can be the worst side in international football when they don't give a fug - have lsot 2-0 to Honduras.

Croatia v Turkey teams:

Croatia: Pletikosa, Simunic, Schildenfeld, Vida, Pranjic,
Rakitic, Vukojevic, Modric, Srna, Mandzukic, Olic.
Subs: Subasic, Strinic, Buljat, Jelavic, Ilicevic, Eduardo, Perisic.

Turkey: Bolat, Toprak, Korkmaz, Inan, Koybasi, Balci,
Hamit Altintop, Erkin, Kazim-Richards, Sahin, Bulut.
Subs:Zengin, Cetin, Gonul, Tore, Topal, Ipek, Halil Altintop.

Referee: Pedro Proenca (Portugal)

Montenegro v Czech Republic teams
Montenegro: Mladen Bozovic, Pavicevic, Djudovic, Savic,
Vladimir Bozovic, Beciraj, Zverotic, Drincic, Damjanovic, Jovetic, Vucinic.
Subs: Blazic, Batak, Vukcevic, Djalovic,
Novakovic, Cetkovic, Delibasic.

Czech Republic: Cech, Gebre Selassie, Hubnik, Sivok, Kadlec, Rezek, Plasil, Jiracek, Rosicky, Pilar, Pekhart.
Subs: Drobny, Pudil, Pospech, Baros, Kolar, Matejovsky, Lafata.
Referee: Nicola Rizzoli (Italy)

6.56pm: USA are 3-2 up against Slovenia in the second half thanks to goals from Bundle, Dempsey and Altidore. Both of Slovenia's goals came from Tim Matavz. Elswhere, Kenya have beaten the Seychelles 4-0 to win their World Cup qualifier 7-0 on aggregate, while Equatorial Guinea have edged out Madagascar.

7.00pm: Cacaphonous boos greet the Turkish national anthem in Zagreb. Not taking anything for granted, the Croatian fans.

7.04pm: You'll have noticed from the teams, perhaps, that Turkey have made eight changes from the side that lost 3-0 in the first leg (without mustering a shot on target!). Hands up who thinks they'll turn it around?

7.07pm: Hamit Altintop drifts a freekick towards the Croatian box. It's cleared. And no, Altintop was not the one who won the freekick. In fact, he will probably never win another freekick again after this in the first leg.

7.09pm: Well that was funny. As Turkey rumbled forward, Umut Bulut stood right in front of the keeper in an offside position. A shot from distance came in from Inan and Bulut stood in front of the keeper but made no effort to go for the ball so the referee decided he was not interfering with play and the nonplussed Pletikosa just watched as the ball struck the base of the post; then, however, he did react, diving full-length to save Colin Kazim-Richards' rebound.

7.13pm: Turkey are looking lively, in fairness. The speed of Kazim and Bulut is bothering the Croatian defence ...

Here are the teams for the Ireland-Estonia game. Trap taking no chances. But sad to see that Coleman is not even on the bench - has he picked up and injury? There is no otehr acceptable explanation.

Ireland: Given; O'Shea, St Ledger, Dunne, Ward; Hunt, Whelan, Andrews, Duff; Doyle, Keane
Subs: Westwood, McGeady, McCarthy, O'Dea, Fahey, Cox, Walters

Estonia: Londak (Bobo Glimt); Jaager (Aalesunds), Rahn (Tianjin Songjiang), Klavan (AZ Alkmaar), Kruglov (Rostov); Teniste (Sogndal), Vunk (Famagusta), Vassiljev (Amkar Perm) (capt), Lindpere (New York Red Bulls); Saag (Silkborg), Voskoboinikov (Himki)

7.22pm: Turkey have been dominating possession in Zagreb but Croatia almost extended their aggregate lead, Simunic heading just wide from a corner.

7.24pm: The US have held on to beat Slovenia 3-2. Meanwhile, Artem Milevskiy has put Ukraine 1-0 up in their firendly against Austria. Still, would be quite happy if Ireland landed in their group at the Euros.

7.25pm: Turkey's defending from set-pieces is appalling. Croatia are winning the ball easily from them. Goals seem certain in this game. Hiddink is going to go out with a hammering.

7.27pm: Here are the teams for tonight's tastiest friendly. Or, as they say in German, das ganztastifussballmatchklash.
Germany: Neuer, Boateng, Mertesacker, Badstuber, Aogo, Khedira, Kroos, Muller, Ozil, Podolski, Klose.
Subs: Wiese, Zieler, Howedes, Hummels, Rolfes, Bender, Trasch, Gotze, Reus, Gomez, Cacau.

Holland: Stekelenburg, Van Der Wiel, Heitinga, Mathijsen,
Braafheid, Van Bommel, Strootman, Kuyt, Sneijder, Babel, Huntelaar.
Subs: Vorm, Krul, Boulahrouz, Vlaar, Anita, De Jong,
de Jong, Schaars, Wijnaldum, Beerens.

7.32pm: Luka Modric goes dancing through the Turkish box but his low cut-back is snaffled by the keeper. Early Turkish vim has subsided.

7.37pm: Finland have taken the lead in their friendly against Denmark. Elsewhere, here are the line-ups for the italy-Uruguay melee.

Italy: Buffon, Maggio, Ranocchia, Chiellini, Balzaretti,
De Rossi, Pirlo, Marchisio, Montolivo, Balotelli, Osvaldo.
Subs: Sirigu, Criscito, Pepe, Pazzini, Abate, Thiago Motta, Aquilani, Ogbonna Obienza, Matri, De Sanctis, Nocerino.

Uruguay: Muslera, Caceres, Lugano, Maxi Pereira, Godin,
Pereira, Perez, Arevalo Rios, Cristian Rodriguez, Cavani, Fernandez.
Subs: Silva, Coates, Diego Rodriguez, Eguren, Suarez,
Ramirez, Alfaro, Lodeiro, Scotti, Gonzalez.

7.38pm: There's a joyous party atmosphere in Dublin alright, with excited jigging and crooning as the teams take to the pitch. Robbie Keane managed to restrain himself. For now.

7.40pm: Ohh! Croatia should have scored! They sliced Turkey with a jagged move initiated by Modric, but Mandzukic undid all that did ballooning the ball over the bar from 14 yards.

7.42pm: Brilliant! Damien Duff is in his own land of pleasant dreams as the Irish anthem gets a mighty rendition. With his eyes closed, facing in a different direction to the rest of the team, Duffer is belting out the tune and swaying from side to side as he does so.

7.46pm: As Ireland and Estonia kick-off amid lusty cheers and Jack Charlton-era chants, the Czech Republic seeks to silence the home crowd in Montengero with attack after attack: no sign of a comeback by the hosts there.

7.50pm: Robbie Keane wants a penalty after the Estonian keeper pounced on his feet to snuff out a chance that had been created by a long ball from the back and Doyle's flick-on. Ref made the right decision. Ireland have started positively here and seem determiend to finish with a flourish (or even an ill-gotten penalty).

7.51pm: What a miss! That was Robbie Keane in his West Ham form! After the keeper fumbled Duff's shot, Keane simply had to tap it into the net from three yards but somehow steered it wide!

7.54pm: Euro 2012 finalists Greece and Italy are both losing, 1-0 to Romania and Uruguay respectively (Sebastian Fernandez got the goal for the South Americans). Plenty of time left in those matches though, and plenty of time also for Rahn to become the third Estonian centreback to get sent off agaisnt Ireland in this tie: he's just been booked for a ridiculous foul on Duff.

7.56pm: Turkey and Croatia are 0-0 at half-time. Meanwhile, Vassiljev, who looked a very slick player in the first leg against Ireland, has just dissected the Irish defence with a fine through-ball ... but Stephen Ward scampered across to abort the chance.

8.03pm: Estonia have been forced into a change, as left-back Kruglov has suffered an injury and has to be replaced by Puri.

8.04pm: "Just so you know, the general conclusion here in Estonia, especially among the many thousands of fans who had never actually watched a game before last Friday, is that the ref was diabolical and handed the Irish the match on a plate,": reports Robin Hazlehurst. "Every time an Estonian sneezed or looked askance he was booked, while the Irish were committing acts of heinous violence on our brave boys without hint of repercussion. Apparently. Oh, and Estonia played very well under the circumstances and tonight the pressure will be off them as they are away, so they can joyfully rip you a new one. You have been warned." It was a 6/10 performance by the ref the other night, and a 1/10 performance by Estonia.

8.06pm: Muller has given Germany a 1-0 lead over Holland in the 15th minute. "It was a gorgeous goal," according to @honigstein.

8.09pm: Karagounis has drawn Greece level against Romania. Meanwhile, here are the teams that will fight to the metaphorical death in Lisbon tonight (Yes, away goals do count and no, Portgual really don't have any better striker than Postiga):
Portugal: Rui Patricio, Bruno Alves, Fabio Coentrao,
Joao Pereira, Pepe, Veloso, Joao Moutinho, Meireles, Nani, Ronaldo, Postiga.
Subs: Eduardo, Almeida, Ruben Amorim, Rolando,
Ruben Micael, Quaresma, Carlos Martins.

Bosnia-Herzegovina: Begovic, Papac, Spahic, Jahic, Rahimic, Pjanic, Misimovic, Lulic, Medunjanin, Zahirovic, Dzeko. Subs: Avdukic, Besic, Muslimovic, Ibisevic, Ibricic, Maletic, Pandza.
Referee: Wolfgang Stark (Germany)

8.14pm: It's drab in Dublin, on the pitch at least - in the stands folks are still festive. Elsewhere, Euro 2012 co-hosts Poland are warming up for next summer with a friendly agianst HUngary and they've just taken a 1-0 lead thanks to Pawel Brozek. Meanwhile, Montenegro and the Czech Republic are 0-0 at half-time.

GOAL! Ireland 1-0 Estonia (Ward 31') Drabness dispelled! Duff fired in a corner, Doyle met it with a nice header, the keeper spilled it and Ward smashed it into the net from clsoe range! A Wolves wondergoal has Ireland at the door of the Euros.

8.18pm: "Germany have gone 2-0 up against Holland and it was even nicer than the first," gulps Francis Lee. "Be afraid." It was Miroslav Klose that nabbed it in the 26th minute. Who can prevent Spain or Germany winning the Euros?

8.20pm: Tamarley Thomas has put Antigua 1-0 in Haiti. "That Portugal team you posted up, with Postiga, Carlos Martins, Ricardo Quaresma, even Moutinho, that's a Champ Man dream team….circa 2005/2006," chortles Jopseph Harden.

8.25pm: Keane, after receving a pass from Doyle, rolls his man and ... swips the ball wide from eight yards. Meanwhile, I've just noticed that there's a chap on the bench for Haiti tonight called Wilde Warrior (OK, Wilde Guerrier, but come on, allow me the translation).

8.32pm: It's half-time in Dublin, where Ireland lead 5-0 on aggregate thanks to Stephen Ward's first-half goal here. There are no other goals in the play-offs so far. But there was quite a match in Algeria today: after Cameroon pulled out of a friendly at the last minute because of a row over bonuses etc., Algeria A decided to play a friendly against Algeria B ... and lost 4-1.

8.34pm: Sinan Bolat has just produced a brilliant save to prevent Croatia from making it 4-0 on aggregate. "I'd take Germany against Spain at the moment," tips Tony Reeke, looing ahead to next summer. "Spain are going to meet team after team that are going to park the bus, and in knock-out they only have to get unlucky once."

8.37pm: Daniel Agger and Nicklas Bendtner have scored as Denmark have jumped into a 2-1 lead over Finland.

8.39pm: Montenegro have jsut missed two glorious chances against the Czech Republic - with just under half an hour to go the crowd are still optimistic that they can overturn the Czech's 2-0 lead. "Isn't Germany like Spain, where everyone stays home and plays for one of the two good clubs in the country, so they all play together very well?" snorts Paul Taylor. "How boring a life." As opposed to England, where everyone stays at home and doesn't play together particularly well?

8.47pm: Ireland and Estonia are back out: unsurprinsingly Trap hasn't made any changes yet. He really doesn't like making substitutions. Meanwhile, your friend and mine, AMy Lawrence, is watchign the Croatia-Turkey match, which remains 0-0 primarily because of a slew of missed chances in the second half by the hosts. "Just thought I would alert you to the wisdom Iain Dowie is imparting over on ESPN co-commentating the game," pipes up Amy. "He just recounted how hostile his experience was playing at the famous Sami Ali Yen Stadium in Istanbul ... Turkey's equivalent of Trafford Old or the Siro San..." Good ol' Dowie Iain.

8.51pm: Here are the line-ups for a couple of fascinating friendlies that are about to get under way:

France:
Lloris, Sakho, Reveillere, Rami, Abidal, Cabaye,
Ribery, Martin, M'Vila, Remy, Benzema.
Subs: Carrasso, Debuchy, Mathieu, Koscielny, Giroud, Gonalons, Menez, Malouda, Diarra, Gameiro.

Belgium: Courtois, Alderweireld, Kompany, Van Buyten,
Vermaelen, Fellaini, Simons, Witsel, Dembele, Hazard, Vossen.
Subs: Renard, Guillaume Gillet, Mirallas, Vertonghen, Chadli, Defour, Mertens, Nainggolan, Vanden Borre, Jean Francois Gillet.

Colombia:
Ospina, Zuniga, Mosquera, Yepes, Armero, Aguilar,
Bolivar, Pabon, Rodriguez, Ramos, Martinez.
Subs: Robinson Zapata, Henriquez, Arias, Vallejo, Quintero, Valencia, Marrugo, Moreno, Gutierrez, Castillo.

Argentina: Romero, Zabaleta, Fernandez, Burdisso, Rodriguez, Sosa, Brana, Mascherano, Guinazu, Messi, Higuain.
Subs: Andujar, Demichelis, Gago, Desabato, Lavezzi, Alvarez, Monzon, Aguero, Denis, Gaitan, Pastore, Orion.

GOAL! Montenegro 0-1 Czech Republic (Jiracek 81') The Czechs are going to Euro 2012 as that strike on the counter has put them 3-0 up on aggregate.

GOAL! Ireland 1-1 Estonia (Vassilyev 57') Well that's a sorry way to lose a clean sheet record. Vassilyev, by far Estonia's best player, was allowed to shoot from 25 yards .. and Given alowed it to squirm through his hands and into the net.

9.01pm: As Croatia celebrate full-time and qualification for Euro 2012, Ireland make a chance, McGeady coming on for Hunt. "Most German players tonight may be playing in Germany - but spare a thought for Özil and Khedira, who play for one of those good clubs in Spain; Klose, who plays for one of the good clubs in Italy; and Mertesacker, who plays for a rubbish club in England," trolls Christopher Findley. Don't forget Robert Huth.

9.05pm: Ireland, their pride pricked, have responded well to the concession of that silly goal. Keane and then Doyle went close.

9.08pm: Vunk gets a yellow for dragging back Duff as he burst into the box. Freekick to Ireland in a dangerous position. Andrews clips it in and Dunne meets it with mighty header, but the keeper saves well.

9.10pm: To tremendous applause Robbie Keane takes his leave, to be replaced by Simon Cox.

GOAL! Portugal 1-0 Bosnia-Herzegovina (Ronaldo 8') A trademark wobbly freekick from the Real Madrid man, who is determined not to miss out on next summer's showpiece. An equaliser would put Bosnia through on away goals, though ...

9.14pm: Blimey, Germany are battering Hoolland 3-0 now. "I'm in Amsterdam working for the week," boasts Anthony O'Connell. "And following the game at home on your mbm while watching the German holland game. It has dawned on me that Ryan Babbel is the Fr Dougal of football, a gormless lost sheep! And as I say that Germany score a goal barca
would be proud of, Ozil for the record scored from four yards after good
one touch tippy tap pass and move stuff."

9.17pm: Ireland have become ragged over the last five minutes and allowed Estonia to work themselves into good shooting positions. Given has had to make a couple of decent saves.

9.20pm: Oh McGeady! After skinning his man he simply had to pick out one of the three Irish players awaiting a pass in front of goal ... but he didn't look up and just flashed the ball at the keeper.

9.21pm: As Poland take a 2-1 lead over Hungary and Romania complete a 3-1 win in Greece, Ireland make another change, Fahey (with a Freddie Mercury-esque moustache) coming on for Duff.

9.26pm: A bunch of Irish fans try to spread a chant of "Que sera sera, whatever will be will be, we're going to Poland and Ukraine, que sera sera," For some reason it doesn't catch on.

GOAL! Portugal 2-0 Bosnia-Herzegovina (Nani 24') Portugal's big guns are blasting tonight! That was an absolute stonker from distance by Nani.

9.33pm: The final whistle confirms that the Republic of Ireland will be at Euro 2012, as will the Czech Republic, Croatia and, unless Bosnia-Herzegovina can recover from a two-goal deficit, Portgual.

9.41pm: The Irish players are doing a lap of honour in the revamped Lansdowne and it seems that all 51,000 fans have stayed behind to share in the fun. "This is the best experience I've had in football," says a jubilant Richard Dunne.

9.46pm: Take a look at Nani's goal against Bosnia tonight. Anything you can Cristiano ...

GOAL! Portugal 2-1 Bosnia-Herzegovina (Misimovic pen, 41') The tension is mounting in Lisbon, where Coentrao handled in the box and Misimovic dispatched the penalty ...

9.54pm: So, are Costa Rica now better than England? They've just gone 2-0 up against Spain ...

9.56pm: On the stroke of half-time, Javier Mascherano has scored in the Colombia-Argentina match. Unhappily for him, it was an own goal ...

MBM substitution

10.07pm: And as Paul heads off into the sunset, it's John Ashdown here, taking a break from writing sizzling headlines for tomorrow's paper, to bring you all the action from the final 45 minutes of tonight's play-offs. It's on a knife-edge in Lisbon, but four minutes into the second half Portugal are having the best of it.

10.10pm: Worth pointing out that this can't go into extra-time. If Bosnia get an equaliser and it finishes 2-2, then it'll be Dzeko, Pjanic and co strutting their stuff in Poland and Ukraine next summer.

10.11pm: GOAL! Portugal 3-1 Bosnia Is that the goal that seals Portugal's qualification for Euro 2012? Ronaldo breaks the offside trap, scuttles round the keeper and taps home. Superb pass from Moutinho to create it, and once the Real Madrid man was scampering through it always looked a formality.

10.13pm: Dzeko gets all up in Pepe's grill, as I believe the youngsters say, adding a finger wag for good measure. B&H's frustration threatening to boil over.

10.15pm: Rahimic, a man doing his bit for baldies everywhere (I certainly wish I had the stones to carry off this look), is replaced by Maletic.

10.17pm: Portugal scream for a penalty as Ronaldo flicks the ball onto the hand of a defender. Referee was wrong side of the offender, though, so there's nothing doing.

10.19pm: That second Ronaldo goal, by the way, was his 32nd for the national side and sees him draw level with Luis Figo in Portugal's all-time goal-scoring charts. Only Eusebio (41) and Pauleta (47) between him and top spot now.

10.21pm: In the maelstrom following that third goal (and possibly pre-Dzeko-rage) Lulic has been sent off for the visitors. This isn't just a tall order now for Bosnia, it's Andre the Giant sized.

10.22pm: GOAL! Portugal 3-2 Bosnia Crikey! They're back in it! Substitute Maletic sweeps a shot at goal after Portugal fail to clear a free-kick, that the suspiciously-offside Spahic turns it home.

10.25pm: The Portuguese TV director makes sure one of his cameramen linger long and hard on the offending linesman. You can almost see the disapproval like a laser beam.

10.29pm: Twenty minutes to go, and you certainly sense more goals in this. Dzeko picks up a booking for gesturing, inoffensively, to the home crowd.

10.29pm: GOAL! Portugal 4-2 Bosnia I've come to this MBM at the right time. A fast break from the home side, capped by a Ruben Micael reverse-pass so gorgeous it should be draped on a chaise longue and a finish from Helder Postiga so thumping it beats other shots up for their pocket money at breaktime.

10.34pm: The Estadio da Luz is buzzing now, nerves ebbing away. It's a fantastic stadium - if you ever get the chance to go, then do. When I was there, the vending machine on the concourse vended two packets of Maltesers by mistake, having received money for just the one. That's my kind of stadium.

10.35pm: Another booking, this time for Ruben Micael, who follows up his gorgeous assist with a chop so U.G.L.Y that it ain't got no alibi.

10.37pm: Papac booked for a very deliberate handball on the edge of the area. Dangerous free-kick this …

10.38pm:GOAL! Portugal 5-2 Bosnia Oh, and that is lovely from Miguel Veloso, seven-ironed over the wall and curled into the net.

10.39pm: GOAL!!! Portugal 6-2 Bosnia This is unravelling now for Bosnia. Postiga gets his second after Coentrao does absolutely superbly to chase down a pass and scoop it across from the byline, the former Spurs striker arrows his header into the top corner.

10.42pm: Seven minutes to go, and they can't go fast enough for Bosnia. On this evidence, Portugal will cause a few problems next summer, although you only need to look at the teamsheet to see that.

10.43pm: "Re: your little tidbit about the Estadio da Luz dishing out double from its vending machines," beings James Walker. "A couple of years back, there used to be a vending machine outside the parking garage near the Sydney Football Stadium that would dish out two cans of drink for the price of one. We always made sure to pay said machine a visit on the way to games on a hot Australian summer's night. Good times indeed."

10.44pm: Quaresma almost wriggles through to add a seventh, and from the resultant corner Carlos Martins scoops his shot into the Lisbon night.

10.46pm: Down to the final few seconds now. I think I'm right in saying that that Portugal would pop into Pot Four for the Euro 2012 draw. One group could therefore be Spain, Germany, Portugal, Croatia. And one could be Poland, England, Greece, Rep of Ireland.

10.50pm: PEEP! PEEP!! PEEEEEEEP!!! All over and the celebrations in Lisbon can begin.

10.51pm: So, to wrap things up, tonight's final scores:

Portugal 6-2 Bosnia and Herzegovina Portugal win 6-2 on aggregate
Croatia 0-0 Turkey Croatia win 3-0 on aggregate
Montenegro 0-1 Czech Republic Czech Rep win 3-0 on aggregate
Republic of Ireland 1-1 Estonia Rep of Ireland win 5-1 on aggregate

Right, that's it from me. Match reports from all tonight's play-offs will be up and around the site soon (if they're not already). Cheerio!
