The Rolling Stones set to play New Orleans Jazz Fest 2024, opening Thursday
Columbia University President Minouche Shafik's leadership is under fire. She has been criticized for her recent testimony to Congress over growing concerns about antisemitism on college campuses — and her handling of subsequent on-campus protests. More than 100 protesters at Columbia were arrested last week after Shafik asked New York City police to clear a pro-Palestinian encampment. The move did little to stop new protests from springing back up at Columbia and on campuses nationwide. University faculty have filed a motion of censure against her, and a number of state and House Republicans have begun calling for her resignation.
It looks like the third time will be the charm as the 2024 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage festival prepares for The Rolling Stones. The festival spans two weekends and is set to open Thursday with dozens of acts on 14 stages. The Stones play next Thursday, and tickets for that day of music have long been sold out. Festival organizers thought they had landed the band for the 50th Jazz Fest in 2019 but the appearance was canceled then because lead singer Mick Jagger had heart surgery. They tried again in 2021, but a surge in COVID-19 cases ultimately forced the fest to cancel.
‘Jesus Christ Superstar‘ isn’t your typical gospel show. It is a sung-through rock opera that has taken the world by storm for over 50 years, and it’s coming to Pollard Theatre Center in Tyler.
