Mission and Aims
The Academy for Karate Goju-Ryu (AKG) mission is to promote outstanding quality Goju Ryu karate to all Karatekas in each level of development and to make available to them all the benefits that practicing a Martial Art brings.
AKG Philosophy
Training in karate teaches us not only self-defence but, to respect others as well as ourselves. We train our body to be strong, and our mind and spirit to be patient, in order to become the best human beings we can be.
Instructor Accreditation
AKG can only maintain its excellence in the teaching of karate through the quality of its instructors. The qualities AKG requires of its instructors relate to their abilities in karate, their teaching skills and their personal attributes as individuals.
Insurance
AKG’s insurance provides coverage to all members of the public under the care and control of AKG. This means that in every single venue where AKG is holding a special event, seminar or conducting a class, whether an injury occurs during the time that the event is taking place.

ABOUT GOJU RYU
Gōjū-ryū, Japanese for “hard-soft style”, is one of the main traditional Okinawan styles of karate, featuring a combination of hard and soft techniques. Both principles, hard and soft, come from the famous martial arts book used by Okinawan masters during the 19th and 20th centuries. Our pedigree goes back to Chōjun Miyagi.
DISCIPLINE & CONFIDENCE
Karate classes benefit growing children far beyond the dojo and in many real-world scenarios. Our structured classes are meant to help develop coordination, physical fitness, mental strength, as well as gain valuable social skills. Through positive reinforcement, we can bring out the best in your children to help them succeed in life.
Code of Conduct
The Dojo Code is the code of conduct under which the Art of Goju Ryu Karate-Do in practiced.
The Goju Ryu Karate emphasises the character building aspects of Karate in which respect for the Dojo, instructors and fellow students is an essential principle.
