Joanna Henley

Qualified Nurse and Specialist Wig & Hair Piece Consultant

Buying a wig for the first time can be daunting – no matter what the reason for losing your hair might be. The physical and emotional impact hair loss can have on your life can be overwhelming.

With this in mind, I am now offering wig and hair piece consultations for those seeking a solution to permanent or temporary hair loss conditions.

Private consultations are free of charge, by appointment and take place in the comfort and privacy of a dedicated consultation room. Appointments can be tailored to best fit your individual needs.

Unparalleled Service

Whatever the reason or severity of hairloss the experience can be very traumatic. We tailor an appointment to best fit your individual needs. All clients will receive a professional, friendly and confidential service. Providing discretion and an unrivalled level of trust is at the heart of our approach and our Company`s values.

The quality designs and construction of our wigs/hairpieces offers you comfort and confidence. We offer a “one stop service” not only providing you with a wig of your choice but cutting and customising to your own personal preference.

Our aim is to provide a personal service centred on your needs by offering a value product, quickly, efficiently and most importantly with compassion.

Private Consultation

The aim of a private consultation is to allow you to make an informed decision prior to buying any wig or hair piece to make sure you are truly happy and confident in your choice. Buying a wig or hairpiece can be a major financial investment, as well as having a significant effect on your self-confidence and so it should not be rushed.

Both NHS and private clients are welcome. All clients will receive a professional, friendly and confidential service whether choosing to wear a wig for medical or fashion reasons.

Wig Provision on the NHS

Wigs are available on the NHS for both alopecia and oncology patients when experiencing “medical hair loss”. Referral by the medical staff (nurse, doctor or dermatologist) is required to your health trust’s contracted wig supplier.

Each health trust will have their own policy/allowance on the provision of wigs. This may differ if undergoing chemotherapy/radiotherapy or those who are referred by a dermatologist.

If oncology then you are exempt from prescription charges.

Unfortunately for those living in England and losing hair due to alopecia, a prescription charge would need to be paid to your health authority for each wig supplied. This is set by the department of health and fee normally increases each year at the beginning of April.

This prescription fee for 2019 depends upon the wig type taken…

  • Stock modacrylic wig – £72.80
  • Partial human hair wig – £192.85
  • Full bespoke human hair wig – £282
