Harran Productions Foundation bridges communities and individuals through shared experiences of sacred sounds, with a special yet non-exclusive focus on the Abrahamic traditions – Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Our international, intercultural, interfaith work represents the lifelong commitment of our founder, Dr. Shakeela Z. Hassan.

We offer greetings of health and hope in these unusual 2020 moments. We will post a Spring greeting soon from Shakeela; she would look forward to hearing from you on any topics at szh@usa.net. Recently published is her new book A Starry Crown: Making of a Fez, chronicling decades of friendship with the Hon. Elijah Muhammad. Poignantly, a book release event was the last major public event at the University of Chicago’s Rockefeller Chapel before the COVID-19 closure. You may order the book here.

In 2018-19, we celebrated the 90th anniversary of Rockefeller Memorial Chapel, from which our signature Sounds of Faith concert series launched in 2009. Details on the October 26 (2018) gala concert can be located here. We also presented Sounds of Faith of Medieval Jerusalem program with the Schola Antiqua at the Perimeter Institute in Waterloo, Ontario on May 7 and in Rochester, New York on May 9 (2019), with details here.

Earlier in 2018 we supported a watershed children’s choir retreat and public concert in Crystal Lake, Illinois. We are currently working on a retrospective of the Sounds of Faith experience, taking shape as both a book and articles with valued partners.
