Most of us who share the Lippard name in our ancestry are descendants of Conrad and his son Wilhelm Lippard, who with their families arrived from Hessen or the Palatinate, Germany, at the port of Philadelphia on 16 September 1738 on the ship "Queen Elizabeth."

The Lippard Family Reunion Committee is happy to announce an upcoming educational family reunion based in Iredell, Cabarrus, and Rowan Counties, NC, over Labor Day weekend, 2014, 276 years after our family's arrival in America. This letter is our personal invitation to each of you to join us for another memorable four day family event. We are advertising this event as an educational reunion rather than as a social gathering because of its educational emphasis, moving ahead in history from the Civil War we concentrated on in 2006 to the next historic period that greatly impacted our Lippard family, the period from after the Civil War to just prior to World War II. Please join us as we relive the events of this era as our Lippards experienced them, an era we are referring to as the major Lippard "diaspora" as many left their NC agrarian roots during this time period to move west and to towns and cities. There will also be time for socializing and getting to know one another as we are now spread across the US and even abroad.

Because of the nature of our program and some of the limitations involved, we feel that it is an event for mature older children, teenagers, and adults, and, unfortunately, is not an event that will be entertaining or of interest to small children since there are no events planned especially for them and no places for them to run and play. Our days will be filled with both time to socialize and as many educational activities and venues as possible including talks, tours, and music.

We need your help in spreading the word (and our website address) to other of your relatives we do not have contact information for, especially those who no longer bear the Lippard surname. Because of the facilities available to us, the number of participants will be limited to 100 on a first come, first included basis. We are using email addresses as much as possible to reduce the cost of postage but are also sending out postal invitations and referrals to our website to those for whom we do not have email addresses. Please notify Harriet Schroeder, 137 Summerwind Drive, Mooresville, NC 28117, by postal mail if you do not have access to a computer. We are asking that by January 31 if possible, all recipients of this invitation or other of your relatives who are interested in attending, inform us of their interest in, but at this time not a commitment to, participating.

Dates -- This reunion will be held from late afternoon on Friday, August 29 through Monday lunch, September 1, 2014.

Location and Motel Reservations and Cost -- Our base will be the Hilton Garden Inn, 159 Gateway Boulevard; I-77 at Exit 33, Mooresville, NC. Visit the website here. To make room reservations, call directly the Hilton Garden Inn, Mooresville, at 704-663-6468. You must mention that you will be attending the Lippard Family Reunion to get our discounted price of $109 plus taxes per night, which includes complimentary hot, cooked to order breakfasts including eggs, sausage, oatmeal, etc, juices, and coffee. Additionally, there is an indoor swimming pool and an exercise room. You will pay the motel room cost directly to the Hilton Garden Inn. You may make your own room reservation at any time up until three weeks (August 9, 2014) before the beginning of our reunion; after that, the rooms will revert to the normal holiday rate. You may cancel your reservation up to 24 hours before the beginning of the reunion. Check into your room by 3 p.m. and out of your room at the end of the reunion at 12 p.m. Most probably the motel will store your luggage in a locked area from checkout time by 11 until you return to the motel should you be taking a shuttle or taxi from there to the airport. Shuttle services are available from and to Charlotte Douglas Airport for approximately $50 each way. Contact Moonlight Drive Chauffer by Chris at 704-293-7220 or T&J Shuttle and Limousine Service at 704-402-2822.

Reunion Registration Cost -- The overall registration cost of the reunion (excluding Hilton Garden Inn room cost and cost of transportation to and from the Hilton Inn from your home) will be $125.00 for each person (children under 12, $70.00). This registration fee will include all six additional meals (excluding breakfasts), all activities and entertainment, name tags, reunion booklet, copy costs for handouts, payments for use of facilities, cost of web site, costs for mailings, and costs for carpooling (to avoid the high cost of renting buses). Please send your attendance form and registration check to Jesse (Buddy) Lippard. See the list of committee members on this website for his address. The deadline for full payment for the reunion registration will be June 1, 2014. The first 100 who respond will be included.

We feel that we have organized a busy, interesting, and informative holiday weekend highlighting events and stories of our family from 1865 to 1940. If you have a relevant family story to share, please let us know as soon as possible so we can place you on the schedule.

Air Travel -- If you are traveling from out of the area and prefer to fly and then rent a car to get to Mooresville, consider flying to the Charlotte Douglas International Airport or the Piedmont Triad International Airport between Greensboro and Winston-Salem.

Please complete and return to us the following tentative ATTENDANCE INFORMATION form as soon as possible to indicate your interest in (NOT OBLIGATION TO ATTEND) The Lippard Family Reunion, Labor Day Weekend, 2014. We need a tentative count of interested family members to make arrangements for meeting facilities and caterers. If you have not shared reunion information with your relatives be sure your family members are aware of the 2014 Lippard Reunion.
