Since its founding in 1764, many people came to and left their mark on St. Louis.

Throughout its genealogical history, the city was influenced by the French, Germans, Irish and other ethnic cultures. They formed hundred small communities throughout the City and County of St. Louis with names like Baden, Carondelet, Dogtown, Florissant, Lemay, and Soulard.
