Welcome to Artifacts Online.

About the site…

Many people who lived and worked in Papua New Guinea collected artifacts such as shields, bracelets, drums, axes and statues. Retaining these as memorabilia or out of ethnographic interest has been and may remain important.

Inevitably over time some of these items will be lost or deteriorate, or the history of them will be unknown. This site aims to keep a permanent record of the item and the collector and therefore the provenance of the artefacts. These items are likely to be of interest to others including anthropologists, collectors and Papua New Guinean people.

There is no cost to contribute and the site has no income earning capacity.

How to Contribute

Simply take a photo of the artifact and fill out any information you are comfortable with supplying. You can either upload the image and details directly into the site with our Upload Form, or you can Email it to me and I will upload the image into the site. If you want to change the image or update the information simply email me the details or upload again and let me know to delete the original.

Photos

Getting the image on site is far more important than its quality. I’m using a mobile phone camera which I believe is adequate.
