Desert Pollen Company
Sonora Desert Bee Pollen

Welcome! Thank you for visiting us!

Desert Pollen Company was organized in 1970 as a specialty company to satisfy the growing need of the people of Arizona for high quality, local bee pollen products.  As the Sonora Desert weather conditions allow, we collect pollen from well known professional beekeepers throughout southern Arizona and our own operations and then prepare and market the products for wholesale. We will only collect during optimum conditions for quality pollen production.  Lately, southern Arizona has experienced a series of drought years that have directly effected plant growth and, consequently, the availability of quality sources of pollen. Also, since 1993, Africanized honeybees have spread throughout southern Arizona and have seriously set back the beekeeping industry. We are adjusting to these conditions, but will still only collect when pollen quality is within our standards of excellence. With more winter rains, we hope to do well this spring.

Since the arrival of Africanized honeybees in our area, we have had many calls from friends, affiliates and the public about what to do and how to handle the problem. Originally, we worked with people who contacted us, did free or low cost bee removals and collected and re-located active, healthy hives with area beekeepers. We also worked with local community organizations and fire departments on bee safety issues and advised the media and some local pest control companies on how to address the growing public problem of having killer bees in southern Arizona.  Although we will still help when we can, we are limited by the effort required to do our business operations and produce high quality pollen products. While many pest control companies now participate in Phoenix, Tucson AZ bee removal or portend bee control, they are really only practicing bee extermination and not providing comprehensive bee services, like honeycomb removal, bee pheromone reduction, bee proofing or proper inspections for corollary problems like looking for other bee colonies nearby.  Simply spraying bees with a powerful residual insecticide does not solve your bee problem. Bee re-infestation is almost certain to occur without applying proper methods. We recommend you call a reputable bee specialist company.

Of all the bee companies that we've known through the years, we would recommend AAA Africanized Bee Removal Specialists, Inc., who serves central and southern Arizona. They are experienced, trained beekeepers or research apiculturists who practice beekeeping, and they are, in our opinion, the best in the business. Also, they have one of the most informative websites that we have seen in the business.  You can access their website: at www.aaabeeremoval.com http://www.aaabeeremoval.com for further information.
