Malaysia Market - Reduction of Stamp Duty Rate
With effect from 13 July 2023, the stamp duty rate for the trading of listed shares on Bursa Malaysia will reduce from 0.15% to 0.10%, while the stamp duty cap is maintained at MYR 1,000 for each contract.

S$1.00 administrative fee for physical Contract Notes
Just like many other global organisations, we are making the shift towards a paperless future, which is in line with sustainable development goals as advocated by the United Nations. In doing so, we hope to substantially reduce our carbon footprint and create an eco-friendlier world in which we can all continue to thrive.
In our drive towards greater sustainability, effective 01 February 2023, an administrative fee of S$1.00 (8% GST will apply, if applicable) will be charged for each contract, should you choose to receive Contract Notes as physical copies.
The administrative fees collected from 01 February 2023 to 31 December 2023 will be donated to the Community Chest and go towards supporting more than 100 social service agencies in Singapore. Fees will be reflected as “Misc/Handling Fee” in your Contract Note.

FUTHER UPDATE ON NOTIFICATION ON BROKER WITHHOLDING TAX ON PUBLICLY TRADED PARTNERSHIPS ("PTP") SECURITIES: NEW SECTION 1446(F) REGULATIONS
We have since been notified by our U.S. sub-custodian that it would no longer hold any such PTP securities from 20 December 2022 onwards.
As our sub-custodian has stated that it would proceed to liquidate any remaining holdings in PTP securities from 20 December 2022 to 31 December 2022, please take the necessary action to dispose of your PTP securities or transfer out your PTP securities held with us to another broker before 20 December 2022. This is necessary in order for us to meet the deadline given by our sub-custodian.

NOTIFICATION ON BROKER WITHHOLDING TAX ON PUBLICLY TRADED PARTNERSHIPS ("PTP") SECURITIES: NEW SECTION 1446(F) REGULATIONS
The U.S. Internal Revenue Service has issued a new regulation under Section 1446(F) of the Internal Revenue Code which imposes a new U.S. PTP withholding tax that would be applied on trades of PTP securities with effect from 1 January 2023.

Alert On Phishing Scams Involving Singpass
The Police have observed a surge in phishing scams where scammers would target victims through SMSes to obtain Singpass login credentials.
Do beware of unsolicited SMSes from sender IDs that resemble "Singpass" (e.g. MySingpass, SGSingpass). Weblinks in these SMSes will redirect recipients to a fake login webpage requesting for a Singpass One-Time Password (OTP).
We advise all users to exercise vigilance and to never disclose personal details and OTPs to anyone. For more information on scams, visit www.scamalert.sg or call the Anti-Scam Hotline at 1800-722-6688.

Prohibition of Thai Nationality buying or converting to NVDR with effect from 1 April 2024

We would like to inform you that SEC has made the following announcement with effective from 01 April 2024 that all Thai nationals are prohibited from buying, receiving transfer or exchanging Thai securities to NVDR status except for the right arising from holding the NVDR prior to the effective date of this announcement or in accordance with court orders.
As such, clients with Thai nationality will not be allowed to buy NVDRs, however, they can still sell their current NVDRs holdings.

Upcoming Rebranding Announcement: We Are Now CGS International

Margin Financing - Removal of Interest Free Period
With effect from 20th February 2023, please note that the 12 days free interest period (inclusive of trade date) is no longer applicable for all qualified clients i.e., those who trade in SGX market and pay standard commission and financing rates. All new and existing clients will not be entitled to any interest free period. Please be advised that this move is instrumental in cushioning the impact of the rising interest rate environment. We appreciate your kind understanding on this matter.

S$1.00 administrative fee for physical Contract Notes
Just like many other global organisations, we are making the shift towards a paperless future, which is in line with sustainable development goals as advocated by the United Nations. In doing so, we hope to substantially reduce our carbon footprint and create an eco-friendlier world in which we can all continue to thrive.
In our drive towards greater sustainability, effective 01 February 2023, an administrative fee of S$1.00 (8% GST will apply, if applicable) will be charged for each contract, should you choose to receive Contract Notes as physical copies.
The administrative fees collected from 01 February 2023 to 31 December 2023 will be donated to the Community Chest and go towards supporting more than 100 social service agencies in Singapore. Fees will be reflected as “Misc/Handling Fee” in your Contract Note.

FUTHER UPDATE ON NOTIFICATION ON BROKER WITHHOLDING TAX ON PUBLICLY TRADED PARTNERSHIPS ("PTP") SECURITIES: NEW SECTION 1446(F) REGULATIONS
We have since been notified by our U.S. sub-custodian that it would no longer hold any such PTP securities from 20 December 2022 onwards.
As our sub-custodian has stated that it would proceed to liquidate any remaining holdings in PTP securities from 20 December 2022 to 31 December 2022, please take the necessary action to dispose of your PTP securities or transfer out your PTP securities held with us to another broker before 20 December 2022. This is necessary in order for us to meet the deadline given by our sub-custodian.

NOTIFICATION ON BROKER WITHHOLDING TAX ON PUBLICLY TRADED PARTNERSHIPS ("PTP") SECURITIES: NEW SECTION 1446(F) REGULATIONS
The U.S. Internal Revenue Service has issued a new regulation under Section 1446(F) of the Internal Revenue Code which imposes a new U.S. PTP withholding tax that would be applied on trades of PTP securities with effect from 1 January 2023.

Alert On Phishing Scams Involving Singpass
The Police have observed a surge in phishing scams where scammers would target victims through SMSes to obtain Singpass login credentials.
Do beware of unsolicited SMSes from sender IDs that resemble "Singpass" (e.g. MySingpass, SGSingpass). Weblinks in these SMSes will redirect recipients to a fake login webpage requesting for a Singpass One-Time Password (OTP).
We advise all users to exercise vigilance and to never disclose personal details and OTPs to anyone. For more information on scams, visit www.scamalert.sg or call the Anti-Scam Hotline at 1800-722-6688.

It has come to our attention that the Telegram group “CIMB Financial” of unauthorised origin is impersonating CGS-CIMB Securities Group CEO Carol Fong.
Users in the Telegram group are invited to join a fraudulent WhatsApp group on the pretext of receiving investment advice.
We would like to clarify that the above platforms are not associated with CGS-CIMB and have filed a police report.
